Swachhata Abhiyan Completes 10 Years: Prime Minister Discusses Efforts to Ensure Better Sanitation Facilities

New Delhi:On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in a program related to the ‘Swachhata Abhiyan’ on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary. Exactly ten years ago, in 2014, he launched the ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.’
The Prime Minister visited Rajghat to pay homage to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, and later paid tribute at the memorial of former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri at Vijay Ghat. Following this, he participated in the cleanliness campaign organized at a school in Delhi, where he engaged in community service alongside school children.
Prime Minister Modi praised the completion of ten years of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and stated in a post that this campaign is a significant collective effort to make India clean and ensure better sanitation facilities. He saluted all those who have contributed to the success of this campaign.
Regarding his participation with school children in the cleanliness campaign, he expressed that he joined his young companions in the initiative and urged everyone to be a part of the cleanliness movement in their surroundings today. This public initiative will strengthen the spirit of 'Swachh Bharat.'
Afterward, Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the Swachh Bharat Day 2024 program at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, in celebration of the 155th Gandhi Jayanti. The theme for 'Swachhata Hi Seva 2024' is 'Swabhav Swachhta, Sanskar Swachhta.' During the event, he inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for several sanitation and cleanliness projects worth over ₹9,600 crore, which include projects under the Amrut and Amrut 2.0 schemes, the National Clean Ganga Mission, and the Gobardhan scheme.
