Tata Power Supply Failure Disrupts Central Railway Services in Mumbai

Mumbai: Train services on the Central Railway (CR) in Mumbai were disrupted on Saturday morning following a power supply failure. The outage, reportedly due to a fault in the conductor supplying power near Thakurli, affected trains across the Kalyan-Kasara-Igatpuri and Kalyan-Karjat-Lonavala sections, spanning over 150 km.
Railway officials stated that the fault in Tata Power's supply caused power outages in the overhead equipment (OHE) cables, halting train operations. Swapnil Nila, CR's Chief PRO, confirmed the disruption, but Tata Power refuted responsibility, with a spokesperson stating, "There was no fault or problem from our side."
The failure affected power supply from 6:05 am to 6:55 am in the Kalyan-Lonavala section and from 6:08 am to 7:08 am in the Kalyan-Igatpuri section. Delays of 20-30 minutes were reported, although Saturday's lighter commuter load mitigated the impact.
Local resident Mandar A reported a 25-minute delay in trains and shared that updates were circulated through community social media pages due to a lack of official clarity.
