Thane Woman Arrested for Allegedly Killing One-Year-Old Son Following Argument with Mother-in-Law

Thane - A woman from Kasane village, near Vasind in Thane district, has been arrested for allegedly drowning her one-year-old son after a heated argument with her mother-in-law. The child was thrown into a water tank by his mother, resulting in his death.

The child, born in 2022, had been suffering from a congenital illness and was receiving treatment at Wadia Hospital in Mumbai. Tensions had been high between the mother and grandmother over the child’s care. On Tuesday, the grandmother took the child on a trip to Titwala, where his condition worsened. After returning him late that night, a fierce argument broke out between the mother and grandmother. The father, a security guard, left for his night shift after trying to mediate.

The next morning, the father briefly played with his son before falling asleep. During this time, the mother allegedly drowned the child in a water tank on the first floor of their home. When the father noticed his son was missing, he searched the house with family and friends. The mother then reported the child missing to the police. However, upon confronting her, she confessed to killing the child.

The father contacted Padgha police, who recovered the child’s body from the tank and sent it for post-mortem. The mother was arrested and charged with murder. Legal proceedings are ongoing.
