Bhayandar — The mystery behind the suicide of a father-son duo from Vasai, who jumped in front of a moving train at Bhayandar railway station, has been unraveled. It has been revealed during the investigation that Jay Mehta, who had married a girl from a different religion, took this extreme step due to fear of social disgrace following the revelation of his interfaith marriage.

Harish Mehta (60) and his son Jay Mehta (30) were residents of Rashmi Divya House Complex in Vasant Nagri, Vasai. Jay had recently married a South Indian girl, but he had been in a relationship with a Muslim girl for the past 10 years and had even married her through a notarized document. Fearing that their community would not accept the Muslim girl, Jay opted to marry a girl from a different religion.

On Monday, July 7, the Mehta father-son duo committed suicide by jumping in front of a moving train at Bhayandar railway station. After the CCTV footage of the incident went viral, an inquiry was launched to understand the reason behind their suicide. It was discovered that Jay’s first wife had exerted significant pressure on him after learning about his second marriage, leading to immense stress in Jay’s personal life.

According to information from the Vasai railway police, a diary found in Jay’s office in Marol contained a letter in which Jay apologized to both his wives. The reason for the suicide was revealed through this letter and the call details from Jay’s mobile (CDR). Senior Police Inspector Bhagwan Dange of Vasai Railway Police Station stated that no formal complaint had been filed yet, so no criminal case has been registered.

This shocking development has caused a stir in the Vasai and Bhayandar areas.
