Mumbai Braces for Moderate Rains, High Tide; IMD Issues Yellow Alert

Mumbai, June 28: As the monsoon continues to grip Maharashtra, Mumbai is experiencing cloudy skies with light to moderate rainfall expected throughout the day. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for the city, advising residents to prepare for intermittent showers and humid conditions.
This morning, the city recorded a temperature of 28°C at 9 AM, with humidity at 81% and wind speeds reaching 27 km/h. Light rain is expected during the day, with temperatures ranging between 27°C and 29°C. Overcast conditions are expected to persist over the weekend, bringing isolated thunderstorms through Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday.
The IMD’s 7-day weather forecast predicts a wet and humid week ahead, with daytime highs between 30°C and 32°C, and nighttime lows hovering around 25°C to 26°C. The forecast also includes increased rainfall on Wednesday and Thursday, with chances of heavier downpours toward the weekend.
In addition to rainfall, the Disaster Management Department has warned of rough sea conditions due to high tides. The IMD has forecast wave heights exceeding 4.5 meters over the next few days. Citizens and tourists have been strongly advised to avoid beaches and coastal areas from June 26 to June 28.
