Tragic Collision in Chhattisgarh’s Balod District Claims Seven Lives

Balod, Chhattisgarh: A tragic head-on collision between a sports utility vehicle (SUV) and a truck in Balod district's Daundi police station area on Sunday night resulted in seven deaths and six injuries.
The victims, returning from a family function in Gunderdehi, were in the SUV when it collided with a truck. Six individuals died on the spot, including Durpat Prajapati (30), four women, and a 7-year-old boy, Jignesh Kumbhkar. Seven others, including five women and a child, were injured and transported to Rajnandgaon district hospital for treatment.
Under the Fatal Accidents Act, 1855, legal heirs of the deceased can claim compensation based on the deceased's age, income, and dependency. The Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, holds the vehicle owner or insurer liable for compensation in case of death or injury from accidents.
This heartbreaking incident highlights the urgent need for enhanced road safety and adherence to traffic regulations to prevent such accidents. The victims' families are entitled to compensation under relevant laws.
