Tragic Debt-Fueled Suicide Attempt in Uttar Pradesh: Couple and 3 Children Poison Themselves

Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh: In a heart-wrenching incident on January 13, a couple from Saharanpur's Gagalhedi-Deoband road attempted suicide by poisoning themselves and their three children due to financial pressure. The family, deeply in debt, had borrowed money from a small finance company, Fusion, and were repeatedly harassed for failing to repay their loan.

The couple, Vikas (45) and Rajni (35), along with their children, consumed poison. Passersby found them unconscious and rushed them to the hospital. Tragically, Rajni and their one-and-a-half-year-old son succumbed to the poison during treatment. Vikas and the other two children remain in critical condition.

Rajni's brother, Gurmeet, shared the family's financial burden, revealing that they had borrowed four to five lakh rupees and faced constant harassment from the finance company, as well as high-interest loans from other sources.

The Saharanpur Police have launched an investigation into the matter. SP City Vyom Bindal confirmed that authorities are focusing on ensuring the surviving family members receive the best possible care while investigating the circumstances behind this tragic event.
