Tragic Discovery in Versova: Infant's Body Found Near Our Lady Church

Mumbai,Versova, Yari Road: In a heartbreaking incident in Mumbai's Versova area, the body of a deceased male infant was found near Our Lady Church on Yari Road. The infant, wrapped in paper and partially consumed by scavengers, was discovered face down. A local resident, Mohammad Tahir Mohammad, alerted authorities.

The Versova police have filed an FIR under Section 94 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, which criminalizes the secret disposal of a child’s body to conceal its birth. This law mandates a punishment of up to two years' imprisonment, a fine, or both for those attempting to hide the birth and death of a child.
