Tragic Hit-and-Run in Thane Claims Life of 21-Year-Old Biker

Thane, Maharashtra:In a tragic incident that has shocked the local community, a 21-year-old biker, identified as Darshan Hegde, lost his life after being struck by a speeding car late Monday night. The accident occurred around 1:45 AM on the Nashik-Mumbai road near Nitin Junction.

Hegde, a second-year BSc student residing in Sant Dynashewar Nagar, Wagale Estate, was reportedly returning from work on his motorcycle to buy food when the accident took place. Eyewitnesses reported that the car, which was traveling from Thane towards Mumbai, collided with Hegde while moving in the opposite direction.

A passerby discovered Hegde lying injured on the road and immediately rushed him to a nearby hospital, where he was sadly pronounced dead upon arrival.

The Naupada police have registered a case against the unknown driver under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Motor Vehicle Act. Senior Police Inspector Abhay Mahajan stated, "We have lodged an FIR against the car's driver. We are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the area to identify the vehicle and its driver. Once we obtain the footage, we will send the details to the Regional Transport Officer for further investigation. We are determined to apprehend the suspect soon."

The incident has raised concerns about road safety and the alarming number of hit-and-run cases in the region. The local community is mourning the loss of a young life and is calling for increased awareness and measures to ensure safer roads for all.
