Trainee Air Hostess Alleges Sexual Assault at Gurugram Hospital While on Life Support

Gurugram, April 16: A shocking incident has emerged from Gurugram’s Medanta Hospital, where a 46-year-old trainee flight attendant from West Bengal has alleged that she was sexually assaulted by a hospital ward staffer while receiving treatment in a semi-conscious state on ventilator support.
According to an FIR registered at Sadar Police Station, the woman was admitted to Medanta Hospital on April 5 after she suffered a near-drowning accident during a flight training session conducted by a major airline. She was initially treated at a nearby private hospital before being transferred to Medanta for advanced care.
The alleged assault reportedly took place on April 6 while she was under critical care. In her police complaint, the woman claimed that she was semi-conscious and on a ventilator when a male ward staffer took advantage of her vulnerable condition. She further alleged that although two nurses were present in the room during the incident, they did not intervene.
Due to her critical health condition, the woman stated she was unable to resist or call for help. She was discharged from the hospital on April 13 and subsequently confided in her husband about the incident, who then assisted her in filing a formal police complaint.
Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including charges of molestation. Authorities have begun examining CCTV footage from the hospital and have recorded the survivor’s statement before a magistrate.
In a statement released by Medanta Hospital, the administration acknowledged receipt of the complaint and confirmed that they are fully cooperating with the investigation. "The allegations are serious, and while they remain unsubstantiated at this stage, we are committed to supporting the police in every possible way,” the hospital said.
The case has sparked widespread outrage, raising serious concerns over patient safety and accountability within critical care units. Investigations are ongoing.
