Western Railway Introduces 15-Car AC Local to Ease Crowd Pressure on Bhayandar-Churchgate Route

Mumbai, December 17, 2024: In response to overwhelming demand, Western Railway (WR) has increased the number of AC local trains on the Mumbai suburban section, with a new 15-car AC local train being introduced to accommodate rising passenger numbers.
Starting December 16, the 8:00 am fast local train (number 90208) between Bhayandar and Churchgate will now run as a 15-car AC service. This change comes after significant crowding was observed on the 8:24 am Bhayandar-Churchgate non-AC local, which was converted to an AC service due to high demand.
WR officials noted that the 8:24 am train was especially popular among commuters wanting to reach Churchgate by 10 am. The addition of the 15-car fast local will offer relief to passengers by increasing the overall capacity and providing more seating options during peak hours.
The newly introduced train will depart from Bhayandar at 8:00 am and will return as a fast local from Churchgate at 9:09 am, heading back towards Nalasopara. This move is part of WR's ongoing efforts to enhance commuter comfort and streamline services on the busy suburban corridor.
Western Railway has urged passengers to take advantage of the increased capacity and continue to follow safety guidelines while traveling.
