Woman Killed, Son Injured in Stampede at 'Pushpa 2' Premiere; Case Filed Against Allu Arjun and Others

Hyderabad: A tragic stampede at the premiere of the highly anticipated film Pushpa 2: The Rule at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad claimed the life of Revathi Mogadampalli, 38, and left her son, Sritej, critically injured. The incident unfolded on Wednesday night when fans thronged the venue to catch a glimpse of their favorite actor, Allu Arjun.
Revathi, who had donated her liver to save her husband Bhaskar last year, was attending the event with her family. While protecting her son during the stampede, Revathi sustained fatal injuries, and Sritej collapsed due to suffocation. Bhaskar, still recovering from his surgery, recounted the devastating night, blaming the overcrowding and lack of management for the tragedy.
“My son, a huge fan of Allu Arjun, was excited to attend the event. We never imagined it would end like this," he said.
The Hyderabad police have registered a case against Allu Arjun, his security team, and Sandhya Theatre’s management under charges including culpable homicide not amounting to murder. Deputy Commissioner of Police Akshansh Yadav stated that the event was poorly managed, with the organizers failing to notify authorities about the actor’s presence, leading to chaos.
The incident has sparked outrage, with Revathi’s family demanding accountability. Authorities have assured strict legal action against those responsible for the mismanagement.
