Chilling Autopsy Details of Kidnapped Manipur Family Reveal Brutal Killings

Manipur: Tragic details have emerged from the autopsy reports of six members of a Meitei family, whose decomposed bodies were recovered from the Barak River in Manipur's Jiribam district on November 17. The victims, including a 10-month-old baby, were allegedly abducted and killed by suspected Kuki-Zo militants.

The infant, Laishram Lamnganba, suffered a bullet injury to the left knee joint, multiple lacerations, and had both eyeballs missing. A "chop wound" on his chest fractured his ribs, while other injuries indicated blunt force trauma to the head and shoulders.

Another victim, 31-year-old Telem Thoibi, sustained three bullet wounds and severe head injuries, with her skull crushed by a blunt object. Her eight-year-old daughter, Telen Thajanganbi Devi, also succumbed to a fatal bullet wound, with additional severe abdominal injuries.

Earlier reports revealed similar brutal injuries in the three remaining family members: three-year-old Chingkhei Nganba Singh, Laishram Heitombi Devi (25), and Yurembam Rani Devi (60). All bore multiple penetrating and lacerated wounds, with evidence of bullets and sharp weapons used in the attack.

The discovery has reignited protests in Manipur, already grappling with ongoing ethnic violence between the Meitei and Kuki-Zo communities since May. Chief Minister N. Biren Singh assured intensified operations to apprehend the perpetrators, while the National Investigation Agency (NIA) is investigating the killings and other violent incidents in the state.

With over 250 deaths and thousands displaced since the conflict began, the region remains in turmoil, demanding urgent resolution and justice for the victims.
