ED raids 7 places including Kolkata in ration scam case

Kolkata:The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has again intensified its action regarding the investigation of the ration scam. On Friday morning, the ED raided seven different places in West Bengal including Kolkata. These include Shakespeare Sarani, Uluberia, Jayanagar and Kalyani.

In ​​Kalyani, the house of a food inspector was also searched, in which many important documents are expected to be found.

The ED has been investigating the ration scam for a long time. At the beginning of the investigation, raids were conducted at many places and suspicious people were questioned. In this case, Bakibur Rahman, a close associate of former state minister Jyotipriya Mallick, was arrested. Later Jyotipriya Mallick himself was also taken into custody. The former head of Bangaon Municipality was also included in the list of those arrested. However, recently some people including Bakibur got bail, as the investigation did not find evidence of their direct involvement in the scam. No concrete evidence was found of the scam money being used in their business.

ED officials divided into seven teams from Kolkata office reached various places including Shakespeare Sarani, Uluberia, Jayanagar and Kalyani. ED team raided the tribal area in Kalyani. ED also searched the house of Bhangar's food inspector Salma Hembram. According to information, Salma Hembram is ill and is currently undergoing treatment in a private nursing home.
