Jammu & Kashmir: Two Terror Associates Arrested in Kulgam as Army Chief Reviews Security After Pahalgam Attack

Kulgam, April 26: In a significant development, security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district arrested two terrorist associates on Saturday. The duo was apprehended from the Thokerpora area in Qaimoh, according to police sources. The arrests come as part of the ongoing crackdown against terrorism in the region following the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam earlier this month.
While further details regarding the arrested individuals are awaited, the arrests highlight the security forces’ continued efforts to neutralize the terrorist network operating in the area.
The arrests coincide with a high-level security review conducted by Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, who visited Srinagar on Friday. This was his first visit to the region following the devastating Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, which killed 25 Indian nationals and one Nepali citizen, leaving several others injured.
General Dwivedi, during his visit, met with Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to discuss the security situation in the Union Territory. The Lieutenant Governor stressed the importance of intensifying efforts to dismantle the infrastructure of terrorism and bring the perpetrators of the Pahalgam attack to justice.
“The nation has full faith in the bravery and valor of our army, police, and CAPFs. They must work in close synergy to identify the perpetrators, enablers, and OGWs (Over Ground Workers) involved in the Pahalgam terror attack and pursue them relentlessly,” Lieutenant Governor Sinha said.
The meeting, which also included senior military officials such as GOC-in-C Northern Command Lt Gen MV Suchindra Kumar, Deputy Chief of Army Staff Lt Gen Pratik Sharma, and GoC 15 Corps Lt Gen Prashant Srivastava, reviewed current security measures and discussed both short-term and long-term strategies for securing the region. The review also emphasized better coordination between security agencies to ensure a more effective response to terrorist activities.
The Pahalgam attack, which occurred at Baisaran meadow, has sparked nationwide outrage, with protests demanding stronger actions against Pakistan for allegedly harboring terrorists. In response to the attack, the Indian Army has been placed on high alert, conducting multiple search operations aimed at neutralizing the terrorists responsible for the attack.
With security measures being strengthened across the region, authorities are hopeful that the arrests in Kulgam, along with the ongoing operations, will help bring those responsible for the Pahalgam tragedy to justice and prevent further attacks in the region.
