Mumbai Police Recovers 36 Stolen Phones, While Youth Kidnapped Over Mobile Dispute

Mumbai, Maharashtra: In a remarkable recovery, the Kasturba Marg Police in Mumbai retrieved 36 stolen and missing mobile phones through the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR). These phones were returned to their rightful owners during an event at the Kasturba Marg Police Station, where police officers also focused on raising awareness about cybercrime and other criminal activities. The event saw the presence of Zone 12 DCP Smita Patil, ACP Kishore, Senior Inspector Jayraj Ranovare, and other officers.

In a separate but equally troubling incident, four individuals were arrested in connection with a kidnapping case over a mobile phone dispute in Malvani, Malad. The case involved Amanullah Ansari, a youth abducted by the accused over a phone transaction gone wrong. After a minor disagreement involving the purchase of a mobile phone, the accused men, demanding their money back, resorted to kidnapping Amanullah and asking for a ransom of Rs 33,000. Police acted swiftly, rescuing the youth and apprehending the four men – Abhishek Singh, Ajay Pandey, Pradeep Singh, and Anwar Khan – from Goregaon.

Both events highlight the growing concerns surrounding mobile-related crimes and the importance of law enforcement in tackling such issues.
