Mumbai University Engineering Students Protest Over ATKT Delay

Kalina, Mumbai: Engineering students at Mumbai University staged a protest on the Kalina campus over a delay in granting special opportunities under the Carry On (ATKT) scheme, which affects over 5,000 students. The ATKT scheme, intended for students who have failed a subject, allows them to continue their studies while retaking the exam. However, this year, the delay in scheduling exams has left students in uncertainty, especially those nearing graduation.

The protest escalated when students blocked the Vice-Chancellor’s car, demanding immediate action. The protesters voiced concerns about the pressure and uncertainty caused by the delay, risking further academic setbacks. The university spokesperson assured that the students' concerns would be presented to the relevant authorities.

This delay raises serious legal concerns, as educational bodies are required to provide timely opportunities for students under such schemes. Many fear legal action may follow if the issue remains unresolved.

With increasing pressure, both from the students and the public, the university is urged to swiftly address the issue and ensure a fair resolution to support its students’ academic futures.
