Perth Test: Australia All Out for 104, India Takes 46-run Lead, Bumrah Claims 5 Wickets

Perth, 23 November: Thanks to a brilliant performance by the fast bowlers, India wrapped up Australia’s first innings for just 104 runs on the second day of the first Test match being played in Perth. Indian captain Jasprit Bumrah took 5 wickets, giving India a 46-run lead on the basis of the first innings. India, however, was dismissed for a low total of just 150 runs in their first innings.

After being all out for 150, it seemed India would fall behind in the match, but under the leadership of Jasprit Bumrah, the fast bowlers made a stunning comeback for the team.

Bumrah and Harshit Rana's Magic

Jasprit Bumrah produced a superb spell, rattling the Australian top order. He sent back Nathan McSwiney (10), Usman Khawaja (08), and Steven Smith (00) with the score at just 19. Harshit Rana then delivered a key breakthrough by dismissing Travis Head (11) at a total of 31. Mohammad Siraj got his first wicket, dismissing Mitchell Marsh at 38 with a catch by KL Rahul in the slip.

At 47, Siraj claimed his second wicket, removing Marnus Labuschagne (02) lbw, giving India their sixth success. Bumrah struck again at 59, dismissing Pat Cummins (03) for his fourth wicket. He completed his five-wicket haul by dismissing Alex Carey (21) at a total of 70. Harshit Rana took his third wicket by getting Nathan Lyon (05) out at 79.

Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood added 25 runs to help Australia reach a total of 104. Rana wrapped up the innings by dismissing Starc (26), as Australia’s innings came to an end. Hazlewood remained unbeaten on 7.

For India, Bumrah took 5 wickets, Harshit Rana took 3, and Siraj claimed 2 wickets.

India's First Innings Ends at 150

Earlier in the match, Indian captain Jasprit Bumrah won the toss and opted to bat first. However, the Indian batsmen disappointed again, and the entire team was dismissed for just 150 runs. Nitish Reddy top-scored for India with 41 runs, while Rishabh Pant scored 37 and KL Rahul made 26.

For Australia, Josh Hazlewood claimed 4 wickets, while Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, and Mitchell Marsh took 2 wickets each.
