Prague, Czech Republic: Indian Grandmaster Aravindh Chithambaram secured a commanding victory against Germany’s Vincent Keymer, while R Praggnanandhaa was held to a second consecutive draw by Turkey’s Gurel Ediz in the second round of the Prague Masters.

Chithambaram, making strides towards elite status, displayed an aggressive style reminiscent of late world champion Boris Spassky, securing a win in 45 moves. His bold play in the Queen’s Gambit Accepted led to a decisive endgame, where he forced Keymer into a lost position.

Meanwhile, Praggnanandhaa, playing with black, opted for the French Defense, ensuring a balanced game. Despite a solid position, the 16-year-old Turkish prodigy Ediz held firm, leading to a 46-move draw.

With seven rounds to go, Chithambaram now shares the lead with Sam Shankland (USA) on 1.5 points, followed by a tight field of contenders. In the Challengers' section, India’s Divya Deshmukh secured an impressive 50-move victory over Czech Republic’s Richard Stalmach, with a dominant endgame featuring two passed pawns.
