Prime Minister Modi to Present a Big Gift to Maharashtra Today, Nagpur International Airport to be Upgraded, Project to Cost ₹7,000 Crore

New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone for various development projects worth over ₹7,600 crore in Maharashtra today via video conferencing. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has released a brief overview of Prime Minister Modi's virtual foundation stone-laying program on X (formerly Twitter). The detailed information about this program is provided by the Press Information Bureau (PIB).
According to the PIB release, Prime Minister Modi will today lay the foundation stone for the upgrade of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport in Nagpur and a new integrated terminal building at Shirdi Airport. Additionally, he will inaugurate the Indian Institute of Skills in Mumbai and the Vidya Samiksha Kendra in Maharashtra. The program will begin around 1 PM via video conferencing.
The release states that the estimated cost of the upgrade project for Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport in Nagpur is ₹7,000 crore. This project will serve as a catalyst for development in various sectors including manufacturing, aviation, tourism, logistics, and healthcare. It will benefit Nagpur city and a large part of the Vidarbha region. The estimated cost of the new integrated terminal building at Shirdi Airport is over ₹645 crore. It will provide world-class facilities and amenities for religious tourists visiting Shirdi. The proposed terminal's construction theme is based on the spiritual Neem tree of Sai Baba.
According to PIB, in line with Prime Minister Modi's commitment to ensuring affordable and accessible healthcare for all, he will inaugurate the operation of 10 government medical colleges located in Mumbai, Nashik, Jalna, Amravati, Gadchiroli, Buldhana, Washim, Bhandara, Hingoli, and Ambernath (Thane). These colleges will enhance undergraduate and postgraduate seats and provide people with specialized tertiary healthcare. Prime Minister Modi will also inaugurate the Indian Institute of Skills (IIS) in Mumbai, which plans to offer training in highly specialized fields such as Mechatronics, Artificial Intelligence, Data Analytics, Industrial Automation, and Robotics.
Additionally, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate Maharashtra's Vidya Samiksha Kendra (VSK). VSK will provide students, teachers, and administrators with access to important academic and administrative data through live chatbots like smart attendance and self-study. It will provide high-quality information to effectively manage resources in schools, strengthen relationships between parents and the state, and provide responsive support.
