Sridhar Vembu Steps Down as Zoho CEO to Focus on R&D, Shailesh Kumar Davey Takes Over

India: In a pivotal move for Zoho Corp, founder Sridhar Vembu has stepped down as the CEO to assume the role of Chief Scientist, focusing on deep research and development initiatives. This change marks the beginning of a new chapter for one of India’s leading tech firms.
Vembu announced the decision on X, highlighting his commitment to tackling challenges and opportunities, including advancements in AI. He also plans to pursue his rural development mission, which has long been a cornerstone of his personal vision.
“Given the current landscape, it’s essential that I dedicate myself full-time to R&D initiatives. The future of Zoho lies in how effectively we navigate these challenges, and I’m energized to return to hands-on technical work,” he wrote.
Leadership Transition
Shailesh Kumar Davey, the group’s co-founder, will now serve as the new CEO of Zoho. The organizational reshuffle also places Tony Thomas in charge of Zoho US, Rajesh Ganesan as the leader of the ManageEngine division, and Mani Vembu overseeing the Zoho.com division.
