Thieves Steal Gold Jewellery, Cash from Cop’s Home in Navi Mumbai

Navi Mumbai: In a shocking incident, thieves have stolen gold biscuits, jewellery, and cash worth Rs 16.95 lakh from the residence of a police constable in Kalamboli, Navi Mumbai. The theft took place last week while Constable Amol Mhatre was on duty at the police control room in CBD Belapur and his family was away from the house.
The break-in occurred on Tuesday night, and the theft was discovered when a neighbor of Mhatre alerted him to a broken safety door of his flat. Upon inspecting the house, Constable Mhatre found that several cupboards had been ransacked, and valuable items, including gold and cash, were missing.
The stolen goods included gold biscuits, jewellery, and cash, valued at a total of Rs 16.95 lakh. Authorities have launched an investigation into the matter, but no arrests have been made so far. A senior police officer confirmed the incident and assured that all necessary measures were being taken to apprehend the thieves. They are also reviewing nearby CCTV footage and questioning potential witnesses in the area.
The police have urged local residents to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities. Constable Mhatre, who has been serving in the Navi Mumbai police department for several years, expressed his shock and distress at the theft.
"We are committed to bringing the culprits to justice and ensuring such incidents do not occur again in the future," said a police spokesperson. The police have also emphasized the importance of securing residences, particularly when they are left unattended for extended periods.
