NAVI MUMBAI: A minor altercation over a broken beer bottle escalated into a fatal incident at Alibag Beach, resulting in the death of 27-year-old tourist Mitesh Patil from Pen. The Raigad police have arrested four fishermen from Akshi village in connection with the murder, while a fifth suspect remains at large.
The incident occurred late on November 30, when Mitesh and his friend Prathamesh Patil (27) visited the beach after attending the annual fair in Varsoli village. Following their meal and drinks, Prathamesh threw an empty beer bottle on the rocks, drawing the ire of five men sitting nearby.
A heated argument ensued, and when Mitesh attempted to leave, he was restrained by one of the accused. Another attacker then stabbed him multiple times with a knife. Prathamesh sustained injuries while trying to intervene.
Mitesh was rushed to Alibag Civil Hospital by his friend but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. Police investigations revealed that the accused, who also sustained minor injuries, have prior criminal records.
Three suspects were apprehended quickly, and a fourth was tracked down after being admitted to the hospital. The search for the fifth accused continues.
