Travel from Eastern Suburbs to BKC in 15 Minutes with New Road Connector!

Mumbai, India: In a major boost to Mumbai's connectivity, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has opened a new signal-free road connecting the SEBI Building to Avenue-5, passing under the BKC Connector. This 180-metre link, completed in just three-and-a-half months, is half the time initially planned for the project. The newly opened road is expected to drastically reduce congestion at key BKC junctions, slashing travel time between Mumbai’s eastern suburbs and the Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) to just 15 minutes.

Commuters from the Eastern Express Highway (EEH) now have three alternate routes to access BKC, ensuring smoother traffic flow and reducing delays. With three of the six lanes already open, this project promises uninterrupted traffic movement and optimised access to key locations like the MCA Club, consulates, and MTNL within BKC. The new road is expected to alleviate bottlenecks and ease overall congestion, ensuring better urban mobility in this bustling commercial hub.

The road opening ceremony was attended by MMRDA Joint Commissioner Radhabinod Sharma and Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Anil Kumbhare. Dr. Sanjay Mukherjee, MMRDA Metropolitan Commissioner, praised the efficiency of the project, highlighting the significance of improved connectivity to make BKC even more commuter-friendly.

This new link adds to the growing network of roads connecting eastern suburbs to BKC, including the Santacruz-Chembur Link Road (SCLR) and BKC-Chunnabhatti connectors, ensuring a seamless experience for both residents and businesses in the region.
