Kejriwal Accuses BJP’s Parvesh Verma of MCC Violations, Calls for Action Before New Delhi Polls

New Delhi: In the run-up to the Delhi Assembly elections, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal has called for top election officials in New Delhi to be dismissed, alleging they have been "colluding" with the BJP. Kejriwal also demanded BJP candidate Parvesh Verma be disqualified for violating the Model Code of Conduct (MCC).
The AAP leader accused Verma of conducting job camps, distributing money, and handing out eyeglasses at health camps, actions Kejriwal described as clear violations of the MCC. Verma, who is contesting the New Delhi assembly seat, currently held by Kejriwal, responded by labeling the accusations baseless and part of a diversionary tactic by a "fearing defeat" Kejriwal. He denied any wrongdoing and criticized the Delhi CM for his comments on "fake voters" from Purvanchal, stoking political tensions.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) acknowledged the allegations from AAP and instructed the Delhi Chief Electoral Officer to investigate the matter. However, the district election officer’s subsequent investigation cleared Verma of any violations, including illegal additions or deletions in the electoral roll.
This high-stakes contest between Arvind Kejriwal, Parvesh Verma, and Congress's Sandeep Dikshit promises a dramatic face-off, with the eyes of Delhi firmly fixed on the outcome.
