Tragic Incidents in Maharashtra: Selfie Mishap, Loan Harassment Suicide & Poison Attempt at Police Station

Thane, Maharashtra: Three shocking incidents have emerged from Maharashtra, highlighting the dangers of negligence, financial harassment, and emotional distress.
Selfie Turns Fatal on Thane Railway Tracks
A 24-year-old man from West Bengal, Sahir Ali, lost his life after being hit by a speeding Koyna Express while taking a selfie on railway tracks near the Ambernath-Badlapur flyover. Ali, who was visiting relatives in Ambernath, failed to notice the approaching train while clicking pictures. He died on the spot, and the Kalyan GRP has registered a case of accidental death.
Loan Harassment Leads to Suicide in Thane
In a separate incident, Amin Shaikh (38) ended his life after being harassed over a Rs 1.8 lakh loan, despite repaying Rs 3.3 lakh with interest. Unable to bear the constant threats, he hanged himself at his Ganeshpuri residence on January 14. A voice recording found on his phone blamed three individuals, leading police to register an abetment of suicide case under Section 108 of BNS. One accused has been arrested, while the search for the others continues.
Man Consumes Poison at Nagpur Police Station
In Nagpur, Sagar Mishra (30) attempted suicide by consuming poison at Nandanvan Police Station after his live-in partner ended their relationship due to his alcohol addiction. Earlier that day, he had assaulted her mother while trying to forcefully reconcile. When called for questioning, he created a ruckus outside the station before drinking poison. He is currently hospitalized, and police have registered a case of attempted suicide.
