Western Railway to Run Additional Local Trains for Vasai-Virar Marathon on Dec 8

In preparation for the 12th edition of the Vasai-Virar Marathon on December 8, 2024, Western Railway (WR) will operate special local trains to accommodate participants and ensure smooth travel. Two additional slow local trains will run early in the morning from Churchgate to Virar on the day of the marathon.
In addition, WR has introduced 13 new AC local services starting November 27, replacing some non-AC trains. These additional services will increase the number of AC trains on the Western Line to 109 on weekdays and 65 on weekends. The newly launched trains aim to ease crowding, with six services going towards Churchgate and seven towards Virar.
The new services are part of WR’s ongoing efforts to enhance commuter experience and meet rising demand for AC trains, especially during peak hours. There will be no reduction in the overall number of train services operating on the Western Line.
Furthermore, the Union Cabinet recently approved three key multi-tracking railway projects in Maharashtra, which will further improve rail connectivity across the state.
For the Vasai-Virar Marathon, participants are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and make use of the additional train services provided by WR.
