India is becoming a catalyst for global progress and expanding its influence," said the Prime Minister

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing Indian communities in New York, stated that India is playing a significant role in global development, peace, climate action, skill enhancement, and strengthening supply chains. He emphasized that India's objective is not to exert pressure but to increase its influence. "We aim to be like the sun, providing light. We do not seek dominance; instead, we want to contribute to global prosperity."
During his visit to the U.S., Prime Minister Modi addressed the "Modi and America" event held in Long Island, New York. He announced the opening of Indian consulates in Houston and Los Angeles, as well as the establishment of the Thiruvalluvar Chair of Tamil Studies at Houston University.
Connecting India-U.S. relations with modern technological advancements in artificial intelligence (AI), he described this as a symbol of "Aspirational India." He remarked that AI also stands for "American Indian," taking the relationship between the two countries to new heights.
The Prime Minister referred to his party's historic third return to power and linked it to his vision, calling it "Pushp" (meaning flower). He explained that "Pushp" stands for Progressive India, Unstoppable India, Spiritual India, Humanity First India, and Prosper India, reflecting India's commitment to progress, continuity, spirituality, humanity, and prosperity.
Referring to the Indian community residing in the U.S. as India's national ambassadors, he noted their strong connection to their roots. He said, "There is no ocean so deep that can separate these Indians from their identity, even across seven seas." Although the community speaks various languages, they share a common sentiment: "Jai Bharat Mata" (Hail Mother India).
Discussing India’s global policy, he stated that today when India speaks, the world listens. "Until now, we maintained distance, but now we are building closeness. We believe knowledge is meant to be shared, wealth should be cared for, and power should protect everyone."
He also mentioned India's victory in the Chess Olympiad and expressed that India will host the Olympic Games in 2036.
Regarding daily life, the Prime Minister said that small lifestyle changes can significantly benefit the environment. He shared that a campaign is underway in India to plant trees in mothers' names—if the mother is alive, they can take her along, and if not, they can carry her picture.
Modi highlighted the changing image of India, noting that in the past decade, one university has opened every week, two new colleges every day, and a new ITI (Industrial Training Institute) has been established. Discussing infrastructure, he mentioned that railway stations and airports are being solarized, and a significant number of green jobs are being created. "India in the 21st century is advancing through education, skills, and research." He stated that India has chosen the path of green transition, guided by a legacy of love for nature, and is investing in solar, green hydrogen, and nuclear energy.
The Prime Minister further noted that semiconductor units have been established in India. "The day is not far when you will see 'Made in India' chips in the U.S." He mentioned that people in India now use e-wallets on their phones, and instead of keeping physical documents, they now utilize DigiLocker. "India will not stop or slow down," he asserted. "We have worked on 'Made in India' technology. Today, India is the second-largest mobile manufacturer in the world and has become a mobile exporter. India has introduced the world to a new concept of Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI)."
